Why I Began Making Skincare in the Forest of Dean

Why I Began Making Skincare in the Forest of Dean

A few years ago, if someone had told me I'd be running a skincare business from Lydney, I'd have laughed. But here I am, and I genuinely love every bit of it.

It came from a really simple place. Both me and my partner have sensitive skin, and I got so fed up of picking up products in shops, reading the back, and having absolutely no idea what half the ingredients were. We'd try things and they'd irritate us, or smell like a chemistry lab, or just do nothing at all. I wanted something that was actually gentle. Actually natural. Something I could trust without having to do a degree to understand the label.

So I just started making it myself.

My first ever product was a Honey & Oatmeal Soap Bar. I honestly wasn't sure it would work, I made that first batch half expecting to tip it in the bin. But our skin loved it. It felt soft, it didn't react, and I knew exactly what was in it because I'd put it there myself. That feeling was everything.

One soap bar turned into many. I started playing around with face creams, body lotions, aromatherapy blends. Each one handmade, in small batches, here in the Forest of Dean. There's something about this place all that green, all that quiet that just feels right for making products like these. It keeps me grounded in what matters.

My rule with every single product is simple: if I wouldn't put it on my own skin, it doesn't get made. No unnecessary ingredients, no harsh chemicals, nothing that's just there to bulk it out. Just good stuff, made carefully.

The range has flourished a lot since that first bar of soap. Glow Daily now covers natural skincare, aromatherapy, men's grooming, mum and baby products, and even something for your pets. Every product is CPSR licensed and cruelty-free, that was never up for debate.

You can shop the full range at glow-daily.co.uk, and if you're nearby, you'll also find us at Taurus Crafts in Lydney, a gorgeous spot with over 70 local makers, right by the café. Well worth a visit if you haven't been.

Every order goes out with a lot of care behind it. Thank you so much for supporting something small and handmade, it really does mean everything.

I hope you find something you love. 💜
